Both in pregnancy, lactation and childhood restricting calories is not recommended because you need to have energy to grow and develop. Sugar, honey and corn syrup are sources of energy and produce pleasure in eating. In cases of obesity and diabetes non-calorie sweeteners are useful in controlling and maintaining a healthy weight.

Many people believe that consuming non-caloric sweeteners can cause disease, but scientific studies show that is totally safe to eat this kind of sweetener and in fact there is no research that refers to them as unhealthy.

At key stages of life such as pregnancy, infancy and childhood is not recommended to have a calorie restriction since the energy is fundamental to healthy growth and development. It is only advisable to use non-calorie sweeteners in case of obesity or other disease in which the use of sugar is contraindicated, such as diabetes. (more…)

The health risks of obesity are serious and even fatal, heart disease, such are the number one cause of death in the United States and can be directly linked to obesity, these are the risk factors related to it:

Diabetes Type 2

Type 2 diabetes and obesity are directly related to the extent that over 85% of people diagnosed with it also overweight. Type 2 diabetes begins when the body does not respond properly to insulin, a hormone released by the pancreas.

Heart disease

Obesity is a major risk factor in relation to heart disease and heart attack, taking at least 20% or higher incidence in overweight people.

Stress incontinence

Excess weight, especially in the abdominal area, puts additional pressure on the bladder, which is motivating this discomfort incontinence or leakage of urine. (more…)

Obesity and a bad omen for elderly women

Obese women reach middle age can live up to 70 years but are far from being as healthy as women who maintain a healthy balance in their lives, according to U.S. researchers.

Thus, the study found that women were gaining weight since age 18, ended in the worst shape, the researchers said.

Most had some kind of physical or mental, more than a third had both chronic diseases and physical or mental limitations.

“As more and more Americans who survive to older ages and at the same time, gain weight, our results could be particularly important with regard to public health policy and clinical merit further investigation and confirmation in additional studies, researchers wrote in the British Medical Journal. It is necessary to control weight

control weightObesity is a problem that every day is more common although there is greater awareness about its impact on health. Besides being an important factor in risk for heart diseases, may also increase the likelihood of developing a variety of ailments, including diabetes, arthritis and certain cancers.

The fact of being overweight or obese can cause profound psychological effects and terrible misery. Diets snapshots, however, have their own problems and in few occasions lead to lasting weight loss. Rather, it would have to reduce excess weight in a gradual manner through a balanced diet and healthy.

In large part, a healthy weight is a personal matter. Each person is comfortable with a certain weight and shape and, for many, the ideal weight is best determined on the basis of how they feel, rather than using a table of weight. While these tables can provide a basic guide as to which is a healthy weight for each individual, are usually too limited in taking into account the structure and physical characteristics of each.
