Much of obesity is related to the risk of heart disease and stroke and to a lesser extent cancer.

Among middle-aged people in the UK, as one in four deaths are caused by heart attack or stroke, and one in 16 cancer deaths are due to overweight or obese, according to researchers estimate.

In adulthood, it may be easier to prevent substantial weight gain, to lose weight once you have won, they say.

Thus the body mass index (BMI) was calculated by dividing weight in kilograms by height in meters squared, an example would be:

Normal: 18.5 to 24.9
Overweight: 25 to 29.9
Obese: Above 30

It is very important to calculate your BMI, to avoid excess in middle age, which could add years to life. (more…)

Being obese is very dangerous to health as being addicted to snuff, as it can shorten the life a decade, a group of experts from the University of Oxford has warned.

Even moderate obesity reduces life expectancy by about three years, said that the Services Unit of Clinical Trials, these results were published in The Lancet and derived from data on nearly one million people worldwide.

In the UK, a quarter of adults are considered obese, with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30, this index is useful in assessing the extent to which the fatty tissue causes health problems.

Researchers at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York has demonstrated the relationship between a high level in the body mass Indicate and occurrence of renal cancer. Both in pregnancy, lactation and childhood restricting calories is not recommended because you need to have energy to grow and develop. Sugar, honey and corn syrup are sources of energy and produce pleasure in eating. In cases of obesity and diabetes non-calorie sweeteners are useful in controlling and maintaining a healthy weight.

Many people believe that consuming non-caloric sweeteners can cause disease, but scientific studies show that is totally safe to eat this kind of sweetener and in fact there is no research that refers to them as unhealthy.

At key stages of life such as pregnancy, infancy and childhood is not recommended to have a calorie restriction since the energy is fundamental to healthy growth and development. The health risks of obesity are serious and even fatal, heart disease, such are the number one cause of death in the United States and can be directly linked to obesity, these are the risk factors related to it:

Diabetes Type 2

Type 2 diabetes and obesity are directly related to the extent that over 85% of people diagnosed with it also overweight. Type 2 diabetes begins when the body does not respond properly to insulin, a hormone released by the pancreas.

Heart disease

Obesity is a major risk factor in relation to heart disease and heart attack, taking at least 20% or higher incidence in overweight people.

Stress incontinence

Excess weight, especially in the abdominal area, puts additional pressure on the bladder, which is motivating this discomfort incontinence or leakage of urine. (more…)
